BenQ officially launches its ZOWIE gaming sub-brand in Malaysia

Simeon Sia, Marketing Communications Manager, BenQ Malaysia, introducing ZOWIE and its lineup of gaming mice and mouse pads earlier today.

There’s a new gaming peripheral brand in town, and it goes by the name of ZOWIE.

For those of you who might not know, ZOWIE has actually been developing gaming peripherals since 2008, but only rose to prominence when the brand ended up being acquired by BenQ in 2015. And as a result of the acquisition, all future BenQ gaming products will be introduced under the ZOWIE brand name.

Earlier today, we were given a preview of the various ZOWIE gaming products that will be available in Malaysia beginning mid-August 2016, such as the FK series, EC series, and ZA series gaming mice, along with the TF series and SR series mouse pads.

The ZOWIE FK Series gaming mice.
This is what they look like when flipped over. Notice the DPI selection button right above their model name?

There are three different mice belonging to the FK series: FK2, FK1, and FK1+. Each of the three mice are ambidextrous by design, which means they can be used with either your left or right hand, which explains the two thumb buttons on both the left and right sides of the mouse. Considering their gaming pedigree, it's only natural that they came with a DPI adjustment button as well, which is strangely located beneath the mouse itself. There are four DPI settings for you to choose from: 400, 800, 1,600, and 3,200.

The mice have adjustable USB report rates of 125, 500, or 1,000Hz as well, which can be selected by connecting the mouse to your PC while holding down a different combination of thumb buttons. The only difference between the three FK series mice is their size, with the FK1+ being the biggest, and the FK2 being the smallest.

The EC series gaming mice, on the other hand, are designed explicitly for right-handed gamers. It’s available in two variants: EC1-A, and EC2-A, with the former being bigger than the latter. You’ll immediately notice the difference between the EC series and FK series mice when you place your hand on them, as the EC series mice has a higher, more rounded arch, which might be better suited for gamers with a palm grip. Its specifications are pretty identical to the FK series mice, as they likewise have a DPI adjustment button (with the same DPI values), and the same selectable USB report rates as well.

The ZOWIE ZA Series gaming mice.

Last but not least, we have the ZA series mice, which, like the FK Series mice, have an ambidextrous design, two thumb buttons on its left and right sides, a DPI selector button, and an adjustable USB report rate. The only difference between the FK and ZA series mice, is that the latter has a higher arch like the EC series mice. There are three mice under the ZA series: ZA11, ZA12, and ZA13. The ZA11 would serve as the largest in terms of size, with the ZA13 being the smallest.

Of course, ZOWIE can’t be selling gaming mice without some mouse pads to go along with them, right? Hence the TF series and SR series mouse pads, which are each available in two sizes: small (355 x 315 x 3.5mm) and large (480 x 400 x 3.5mm).
If you prefer using a mouse pad that has some form of traction, you’d want to opt for the TF series mouse pads, which have a surface that’s made out of a combination of cloth and plastic to offer a slightly rougher glide, without imposing too much friction and resistance. They are liquid-resistant as well, and have rolled, triple-stitched edges for added comfort and durability.

The SR series mouse pads, meanwhile, are designed to offer a smooth, fast and consistent glide regardless of the mouse that you use. You won’t have to worry about it slipping and sliding while you flick your mice around, as it has a rubber base that ensures it would stay put.

Unfortunately, ZOWIE will only be able to provide us with the retail price of their gaming mice and mouse pads tomorrow, or this coming Tuesday at the latest. You can rest assured that we’ll be updating this story the moment we hear from them. Stay tuned!
