You can now edit RAW photos in the iOS version of Lightroom

Adobe knows how excited and eager you are to post-process the RAW photos you’ve just captured on your recent excursion, which is why instead of making you do all your photo-editing on your notebook or desktop PC at home, the company is now allowing you to edit your photos on the fly, right after they’re captured, directly on your iPhone or iPad.

That’s right, Adobe has just updated Lightroom for iOS (iPad, iPhone) with RAW editing functionalities, which means you can tinker with the various parameters of your RAW image – including its white balance and highlights – directly on your iOS device, just as you would on the desktop version of Lightroom.

Don’t worry, all the alterations you’ve made to your photos will be synced across the devices that have Lightroom installed, so you won’t have to start from scratch or tediously import and export them again.

In addition to RAW support, the updated Lightroom for iOS app also now allows you to make adjustments with linear and radial selections, which you can use to draw attention to a specific region of your photos.

If you’ve predominantly been getting around the desktop version of Lightroom using its various shortcuts keys, you should be happy to know that they will now work on the Lightroom for iOS app on the iPad, provided you have a physical keyboard connected, of course.

Lightroom for Android users, you aren’t left out of the fun, as Adobe has given you a new and improved Lightroom Camera that allows you to take advantage of Android’s built-in ability to capture DNG images. It even comes with a Pro mode that would, as you’ve guessed, allow you to control various settings like shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and focusing.
