Sapphire releases hardware details of their NITRO+ Radeon RX 480

Last week, we reported on some of the custom-cooled variants of AMD’s Radeon RX 480.Sapphire’s NITRO+ Radeon RX 480 was (obviously) one of the AiB partners in that list, but at the time, the company had yet to release any specific hardware specifications of the card in full.

That changed today when Sapphire released the official hardware specifications for the Polaris-based card, and based on the list, it actually looks quite decent.

Off the bat, the card will be available in two variants: one with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and the other with 4GB. The 8GB variant will have a boost clock of 1,342MHz, while the 4GB variant will have a factory boost clock of 1,306MHz.

Other than the difference in clockspeeds, both variants share the same key features, such as Sapphire’s Dual-X cooling solution (with two 95mm ball bearing fans) with its accompanying Fan Health System for monitoring fan health, as well as their new NITRO Glow RGB LED lighting system.

Just like the original RX 480, the NITRO+ Radeon RX 480 is VR Ready, supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, and will support HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4. However, as a reminder, the RX 480 is a card designed to make the most out of 1,440p gaming and not 4K. So, if you’re looking for a card that will allow you to game at the latter, then you may want to get two of these cards, or just hold out until the official announcement of AMD’s Radeon RX 490.
