Yelp can now filter search results to show places with nearby pokéstops

It was probably inevitable that apps made to offer local recommendations would give in to the Pokémon Go phenomenon, and that's just what Yelp has done today. The popular guide to nearby businesses can now filter your search results to show places that are in the vicinity of pokéstops, the crucial destinations that allow players to collect pokéballs and other in-game items. The feature shows up next to more traditional filters like "open now" just above search results on Android and iOS, and is available in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. You can also filter by pokéstops when searching Yelp on desktop.

But how does Yelp know where all the pokéstops are? Well, it doesn't — and that's where you come in. The company is asking users to "answer a quick question" whenever they check in someplace new to share whether or not it's worth the trek for other pokémon trainers. "In just the past 24 hours, Yelpers have already identified thousands of pokéstops! With your help, we’ll become pokémon masters in no time," the company said in its blog post. How long will the filter stick around? Well, probably for as long as this cultural obsession keeps marching on.
