Over half eligible users have not upgrade to Windows 10 yet


Microsoft Malaysia recent survey found that half of the qualifying computer (PC) in Malaysia, have yet to upgrade their PCs to Windows 10 for free. This issue is expected to be very serious because this free offer will expire on 29th July 2016, less than three days from now.

According to web traffic analysis provided Statcounter, 50.4% still run PC operating system Windows 7 or 8.1. Both operating systems are eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10.


Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia Consumer Channel, Bruce Howe explains, Windows 10 is the fastest growing Windows operating system. It has now been activated on more than 350 million devices around the world.

In Malaysia, there are still many of the users using older operating systems and Microsoft strongly encourages consumers to take this opportunity to get a free upgrade. In fact, Windows updates will introduce the first anniversary of Windows 10, which will be known as Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

This update will add more security functions into Windows 10, enhances the ability of personal assistant Cortana, and the use of Microsoft’s browser Edge, as well as the arrival of Windows Ink, an all-new experience in Windows 10 through the use of digital pen.

After July 29, Windows 10 will be sold separately from the device, at a price of RM629.99 for the Home edition of Windows 10, and RM1,099 for Windows 10 Pro edition. These prices are GST inclusive.
